Corn Ingredients supplied by Matco Foods
Overview

One source, multiple functions

Matco's corn ingredients are the structure and texture side of the portfolio: corn flour for bakery and snacks, native corn starch for thickening and binding, and modified starch engineered to hold up where native starch breaks down. All are gluten-free and produced from corn processed through our own milling and starch facilities.

Where the rice and tapioca ranges lead on sweetening and carrying, corn leads on body. These are the ingredients that thicken a sauce, hold a coating crisp, set a filling and keep texture stable through heat, shear, freezing and time on shelf.

Corn Flour range

Corn Flour

Finely milled corn adds mild sweetness and golden color to gluten-free bakery, tortillas, snacks, batters and coatings while supporting structure in processed foods.
Corn Starch range

Corn Starch

Native corn starch thickens sauces, soups and custards, sets on cooling and helps bind snacks and fillings while keeping flavor neutral in food formulations.
Modified Corn Starch range

Modified Corn Starch

Modified corn starch grades help maintain viscosity and texture through heat, shear, acid or freezing where native corn starch may break down during processing or storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Corn flour is the whole kernel milled fine, so it carries protein, fiber and corn flavor, and behaves like a flour in bakery and coatings. Corn starch is only the starch fraction, refined out of the kernel: white, neutral-tasting and used for thickening, binding and dusting rather than structure.
Modified Corn Starch is native corn starch adjusted so it holds up under conditions that would break plain corn starch down, such as prolonged heat, high shear, acidity or freeze-thaw cycling. Modification can be physical, enzymatic or chemical depending on the grade; our technical team will confirm the modification type and declaration for any grade you evaluate.
Yes. Corn contains no gluten, and both our corn flour and corn starch are gluten-free.
Thickening soups, sauces, gravies and custards; binding in meat, snack and bakery systems; dusting in confectionery moulding; and as a bulking and texture agent. It is also supplied into industrial and non-food applications.
Corn sweeteners are outside our current range. Our sweetener portfolio is built on rice and tapioca, which many customers prefer for label and allergen reasons; see the Syrups, Maltodextrin, Syrup Solids and Dextrose category pages.
Yes. Sample quantities are available for lab evaluation with the technical data sheet before any commercial commitment.
